2012 Campground Summer Events
The 2011 camping season was a tremendous success and was anchored by an amazing line up of activities and events. Conservation Area staff are currently working hard on scheduling and securing dates for an activities and events line up in 2012 that will certainly top last season. Conservation Area Events 2012
Everyone welcome! Plan your weekend or pick your day, there is something here for you!
Valid park permit is required for all events.
Campers’ Victoria Day BBQ - May 19, 11 am to 4 pm
Location - Recreation Centre field. Welcome back, campers!
Fanshawe Optimist Fireworks Display - May 21, at dusk
See the largest fireworks displays in the London area! Arrive early to get that good viewing spot.
Chili Cook Off - June 2, 4 to 6 pm
Location - Recreation Centre field. Try your hand at chili (please sign up at the Park Office 519-951-6181 ext 367). Not a chef? Come and pick out your favorite! Live band and square dancing into the evening!
Fanshawe Bike Rodeo - June 3, 10 am to noon
Location - Park Maintenance Compound. Bike safety and fun bike course event. Bring your bike and learn to be safe on and off the road.
Hay Wagon Shuttle - June 3, noon to 1:30 pm
Take a hay wagon shuttle from the Bike Rodeo to the Birthday Party (parents must accompany their children).
Children’s Safety Village Birthday Party - June 3, noon to 4 pm
Location - Children’s Safety Village in the Day Use Area. Celebrate the Children’s Safety Village Birthday with food and fun for the whole family.
Fanshawe Splash Pad OPENS! - June 2 to September 25, 10 am to 8 pm everyday!
Step on the black disks at the edge of the Splash Pad to activate watery fun!
Fanshawe Outdoor Day - June 16, 7 am to 1 pm
Location - Boat Launch Area - Nova Craft Canoe Demos. Go for a paddle and learn all about canoes with Nova Craft Canoe.
Camper Garage Sale - June 16, 7 am to noon
Location - Park Office field parking area. Brunch, coffee and hidden treasures await you; check it out!
Swingin’ Fanshawe 50’s Dance - June 16,
Family Dance 4 to 9 pm, Adult Dance 9 pm to 1 am.
Location - Beach Pavilion in the Day Use Area. Put on your dancing shoes and have a great time. For information please call 519-951-6181 ext 367.
Fanshawe Pool OPENS! - June 29 to September 3
See the pool schedule at the Park Office for swim times.
Hay Ride Time! - June 30, 2 to 4 pm
Location - Recreation Centre.
Canada Day BBQ and Picnic - July 1, 11 am to 4 pm
Location - Recreation Centre field area. Old fashioned picnic games, face painting and Birthday Cake for all!
Family Fishing Week - July 7 to 15
No fishing license needed! Bring a friend and catch “the one that got away!” The OFAH TackleShare program is available at the Recreation Centre.
Slide Show & Outdoor Movie Night - July 7, 7 pm
Location - Recreation Centre. Please see the events calendar for information.
It’s Friday the 13th! Forest evening hike - July 13, 8 pm
Location - Recreation Centre. Bring your flashlight and find out what goes BOOO! in the night. This is a guided evening nature hike. Parents must accompany their children.
Family Fishing Day - July 14, 8 am to 1 pm
Location - Boat Launch area and Fishing Dock. Join the Thames River Anglers and Fanshawe Campers Association to learn about fishing and fun, and maybe even win a prize!
Amazing Star Gazing - July 15, 9:30 pm to midnight (rain date July 29)
Location - Boat Launch field area by the Pond. Join Conservation Area staff and the Royal Astronomical Society in a fun star gazing evening. Outdoor slide show and telescopic viewing of deep sky objects! Weather permitting.
Hay Ride Time! - July 21, 7 to 9 pm
Location - Recreation Centre.

Fanshawe’s Got Talent! - July 28, 7 to 9 pm
Location - Recreation Centre. Karaoke, skits and more! Bring your own talent. Join the fun and show us what you got!
Art in the Park - August 4, 11 am to 3 pm
Location - Recreation Centre. Outdoor arts and crafts show and sale.
Pancake Breakfast - August 5, 8 to 11 am
Location - Recreation Centre.
Back to Nature Day - August 11, 11 am to 4 pm
Location - Starts at the Recreation Centre. Join Conservation Area staff in a walk around the Lake! This is a 25 km hike so please come prepared. Bag lunch provided. You must sign up for this hike by calling 519-951-6181 ext 367.
Camper Spirit Campfire - August 11, 8 to 10 pm
Location - Recreation Centre. Fun camper campfire, skits and songs! Bring your lawn chair and blankets.
Haunted House & Halloween Dance - August 18
Family Haunted House and Dance 4 to 9 pm; Adult Dance 9 pm to 1 am.
Location - Beach Pavilion in the Day Use Area. Dress up in your best costume! Spooky good time for all.
London Dragon Boat Race Festival - August 25
Location - Day Use Area.
Children Camper Halloween - August 18, 1 pm to 3 pm
Location - Campground. Are you camping? If so, go trick or treating in the summer!

Location - Recreation Centre field. End of season fun day event with jumpers and fun fair games.

Vulture Bait Trail Race - October 13

Haunted Village Hayrides - October
