New and Improved Roads and Parking Are Here
2011-12-05 08:13The work is done and the new and improved roads are here!
When patrons access Fanshawe Conservation Area through the Front Gate area off of Clarke Road, they are going to find a new stretch of black top. The main road has been completely stripped and resurfaced, beginning just past the gatehouse where the road access is for the rowing club, continuing across the dam and ending where the access is for the boat launch area. This heavily travelled section of main road is now complete with marked bike lanes going both directions, and reflectors embedded into the road to mark the centre and edge lines.
Patrons will also discover when they pass through the front gate area and round the bend, a new parking lot. This parking lot, which takes the place of the roadside parking that occurred near the yellow dam gate, was built for visitors to the UTRCA offices and for patrons to Fanshawe Conservation Area. Access to this new parking lot is off of the main road, adding an element of safety for visitors and patrons as they unload gear from their vehicles.
As you navigate our newly paved roads and parking lots we ask that you be mindful of the traffic safety signs that are posted. Especially please note that the signed speed across the dam and also now thoughout the whole area in front of the new Watershed Conservation Centre being built, is marked at 20 km/h. Also please be mindful of the 3 way stop in front of the Watershed Conservation Centre being built and the pedestrian traffic in this immediate area.
