Canoe & Kayak Rentals

Canoes and kayaks are now available to rent at Fanshawe Conservation Area on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until October 16th!

 PLEASE NOTE:  Our canoes and kayaks are only available on a first come, first served basis. Each unit will only be rented once per day to allow for adequate disinfection between users. 

Rentals are available at the campground registration office starting at 10 am. All rentals are dependent on favourable weather conditions. Check our Facebook page for updates.

Who can rent a canoe or kayak?

  • Persons 18 years of age or older can rent a canoe/kayak.

  • You must show a valid driver's license.

  • You must sign a rental agreement/waiver before taking the canoe/kayak out on the water. By signing the agreement/waiver, you are accepting responsibility for the equipment, and for any passengers.

  • Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult when in the canoe/kayak.

  • Staff are not available to assist with moving any equipment, including the canoe/kayak. You/your group must be able to lift the boat off the storage rack and carry it into the water, and then return the boat to the storage rack.

How do I rent a canoe or kayak?

  • Rentals are available Friday, Saturday and Sunday out of the campground registration office between 10 am - 4 pm on a first come, first served basis.

  • We have 6 canoes and 6 kayaks available. Once all 12 items are rented out, they will not be available again until the following day.

  • Please note that staff reserve the right to limit or refuse rentals due to unfavourable weather conditions.

FEES:

  • $50 rental fee gives you access to the canoe/kayak, life jackets, paddles, and emergency kit from 10 am - 4 pm.

  • $15 fee to enter the Conservation Area is in addition to the rental fee (entry fee does not apply if you have a seasons pass or current camping permit).

  • We do NOT rent life jackets or paddles on their own.

  • All rentals must stay in Fanshawe Conservation Area on the reservoir. Canoes/kayaks cannot be taken outside of the Conservation Area or elsewhere on the Thames River.
