Plantation Restoration Project Starting

The pine plantation south of the UTRCA’s Watershed Conservation Centre (WCC) parking lot will be the target of ecological restoration work over the next couple of years, starting this fall. The plan is to transition this overly dense pine stand into a more open and diverse pine-oak-hickory savanna and tallgrass prairie habitat.

The plan...... staff will start to implement Phase I of this multi year project by hand spraying the invasive species within Areas 1-4 (see map below) starting tomorrow, November 12th, 2021. Signs will be posted prior to spraying. In December staff will spend one day to cut & chip the invasive/non native species within Areas 1 & 4.

So keep this in mind when out and about on the trail over the next couple months.

Monkey Wrench is now reopen after the recent storms! All the trees are now cleared and the trail is ready for use again. Happy Riding, Park Staff

Due to the recent storm there are branches and debris that are blocking the Monkey Wrench Trail. This section of the trail will therefore be closed until staff can clear it and make the trail useable

With the storm that passed through last night there is potential of trees or branches down throughout the lake trail. If you are out on the trail and happen upon one of these issues, please report it
